Bellevue Direct Access E-mail

Bellevue Direct AccessThe Bellevue Direct Access project was part of a regional effort to improve transportation flow along the I-405 corridor through downtown Bellevue. Working for Atkinson Construction under a fast-track schedule, Tetra Tech INCA provided surveying services for the reconstruction of the NE 4th and NE 8th Street interchanges, and for the addition of a new HOV interchange structure at NE 6th Street.

Notable aspects of this massive project included constructing the new NE 8th Street bridge in a temporary location, diverting traffic to a temporary bridge, demolishing the existing bridge, and then rolling the replacement bridge 19 meters into place. The work was aided by the installation of “Rudy,” a robotic total station mounted on the roof of the INCA building, directly above and adjacent to the project site. This robotic station eliminated excessive instrument setup time, allowing survey crews to be more efficient, thereby saving agencies time and money.
