Tetra Tech INCA performed an analytical study of the light rail joint for the bridge’s expansion joints between the floating and fixed spans. The light rail joint undergoes vertical and horizontal angular changes and longitudinal translation movement. The study report concludes that an efficient light rail joint that could accommodate the I-90 floating bridge movement can be designed and installed. INCA investigated and identified the major utilities within the right-of-way of selected route and alternatives for development of alternative alignments plan and profile.
As the structural lead for the East Link consultant team, INCA is performing preliminary engineering services for this $3 billion, 14-mile light rail project connecting Seattle International District to Microsoft Campus at Overlake, Redmond via I-90 Homer Hadley Floating Bridge. Seismic retrofits for the I-90 Homer Hadley Floating Bridge approach structures will be prepared to a 60 percent design level of completion in order to gain a more reliable and detailed opinion of costs for those elements. The design for fabrication, assembly and testing of a full-scale prototype of the proposed track bridges connecting the floating bridge to the fixed land spans will be advanced to 100 percent level of completion.
