The INCA team provided survey, geotechnical investigation, environmental, permitting, civil engineering and landscape architecture to prepare plans, specifications and estimate for 5,300 feet of hard-surfaced trail as an extension of the regional Westside Trail, connecting Seattle to Puget Sound. The project provided trail amenities such as organic furniture and split rail fencing. In Des Moines Beach Park, the trail utilized the existing roadway through the park as a shared use route, using pavement marking and signage to direct the various modes of travel. INCA designed an alternate route for pedestrians through the Covenant Beach Historic District using existing pathways and bridge across Des Moines Creek. INCA designed a sidewalk on the easterly side of Cliff Avenue allowing for a pedestrian crossing to the Des Moines Marina. The existing wall at Cliff Avenue was replaced with a tiered gravity block wall which allowed a wide sidewalk to carry trail traffic to the three-way intersection of 5th Avenue South, Cliff Avenue South and Overlook II Park.
