The construction of the new underground baggage screening facility, located underneath an existing terminal at SeaTac Airport, required daily settlement monitoring to ensure that any movement would be detected before a threat to passenger safety occurred. Tetra Tech INCA designed a monitoring scheme that accommodated the construction contractor’s schedule, as well as the Port of Seattle’s need to ensure the integrity of the terminal. Once the monitoring scheme was set up and verified, we were able to provide all of the monitoring using one field technician, rather than a two-person field crew, which provided a real cost savings to the contractor. Daily monitoring reports were emailed to all parties.
